Registration: August 7, 11am - 7pm
Classes Start: September 4
At
Dance Productions Unlimited, we pride ourselves on being one
of the most up to date and progressive studios in the Jefferson
County and St. Louis areas. Dance Productions Unlimited (“DPU”)
is in its 27th year under the direction of Lisa Dallas. DPU
features an all adult teaching staff that specializes in the
fields in which they teach. We have an annual dance recital
and participate in conventions and competitions throughout
the year. In studio master classes are offered with some of
the most sought after teachers and choreographers in the country.
We believe that the quality training we offer goes far beyond
just learning how to dance. Our students are taught in a loving,
yet structured and disciplined atmosphere. The students benefit
from classes which build self esteem, confidence, coordination,
and promote physical well being. Those who wish to attain
college scholarships or enter the professional dance world
are well equipped to do so when the time comes. And many of
those who do not, repeatedly show that we have accomplished
our goal in passing on our love for dance by returning to
dance classes in their adult years. Dancers from DPU have
acted as Goodwill Ambassadors to the United States performing
in Russia and Australia. Students are and have been active
in the St. Louis Muny Opera, National Tour of Beauty and the
Beast, Six Flags Palace Show, Tap Kids National Tour, Rams
Cheerleaders, Muny Kids, Jr. Star Search, and Team 11 dancers
to name a few. They've also performed with the St. Louis Gateway
Ballet, Mo. State Ballet, St. Louis Hoofer's Club, St. Louis
Variety Telethon, for local production companies, at community
events, and annually at the Chuck Norman Charity Christmas
Party. Many have received college scholarships in dance and
theatre. Through competitions and conventions, students have
won numerous awards and cash prizes along with dance scholarships
to study at studios such as Broadway Dance Center and the
EDGE in Los Angeles . Most recently, (summer '05) forty seven
dancers ages 5 thru 54 performed in two shows on Carnival
Cruise Lines' Elation during a seven day cruise. We are very
proud of all of our student's accomplishments!

For
those who are interested in competing, we offer both competitive
and recreational teams. Our philosophy on competing is not
just based upon winning a first place or high score. We promote
teamwork and good sportsmanship, and believe in keeping rehearsals
and costs within reason. We rarely ask our dancers to rehearse
on weekends or for long hours outside of class during the
week. We look at competition as mainly an opportunity to get
on stage and perform. Thus, DPU takes a “middle of the road”
approach to competition. We do not feel competing should be
about entering the students in so many routines that they
all begin to look alike or asking the parents to purchase
costume after costume overloaded with rhinestones. Our goal
is that our dancers be able to execute a variety of styles
proficiently and become true performers who are at ease in
front of an audience. Again, those who wish to go on to pursue
college scholarships or professional careers are able to do
so.
Normally,
the teams enter two to three competitions per season and also
do community and charity performances. Auditions for teams
are held in late spring, early summer. |
